Academic Problems

When the Traditional and standard methods of tutoring and academic remediation have failed, Dr. Liberman's Educational Tutoring and Developmental approach/strategies continue to succeed.Academic Problems, Educational tutoring

Dr. Dov Liberman received his doctorate in Human Development from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. He has been a university professor in educational psychology for over 30 years and, in his clinical practice, has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults who have experienced persistent learning problems. He has achieved great progress with children and adolescents who, despite having been exposed to a multitude of tutoring and remediation programs, have continued to experience on-going failure.

Traditional standardized tests (including IQ tests) simply test achievement. They show what your child can and cannot do, but they do not explain why. They lead to labels and bureaucratic placements, but they do not provide information about what to do in order to improve your child’s achievement. Unfortunately, this often leads to exposing children to tutoring programs that provide little meaningful help or, experience has shown, even make their problems worse.

Dr. Liberman employs a fundamentally different approach.  He uses one-on-one individualized testing that actually identifies the unique developmental characteristics, learning strategies, and learning style of each learner. Unlike traditional tutoring services, Dr. Liberman does not employ a “one size fits all” remediation method. His extensive knowledge of child development and learning enables him to create a unique program for each individual geared to that person’s developmental level and way of learning. Rote drills, flash-cards, and worksheets are replaced by programs that develop the child’s thinking and learning, show people how to learn, and give learners (both children and adults) a positive, encouraging experience. Frustration and boredom are replaced by success and excitement.  In most cases, as understanding and academic success increase, children and adolescents experiences a decrease in behavioral problems and a more positive attitude toward school.

Dr. Liberman’s’ methodologies break the cycle of baffling terminology, confusing meetings, lack of progress, and tension and conflict between parent and child. Children and adolescents who have not been helped by traditional approaches have experienced remarkable success working with Dr. Liberman
